Insightful tips for maintaining a hygienic and attractive shower tray.
Cleaning and maintaining your shower tray is an important part of your cleaning routine, not only for the overall appearance of the bathroom, but also for hygiene and longevity. Today’s shower trays are available in a range of materials from traditional ceramics to Stonex® and Senceramic®, new and innovative materials such designed for easy maintenance and smooth surfaces.
Ceramic is widely used for shower trays because of its durability and resistance to stains. In fact, it is considered one of the most hygienic surfaces around, which is why it is so well suited to the bathroom. Cleaning these surfaces is easy. Start by wiping it down with a mild detergent or a solution of warm water and vinegar. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as they can scratch the surface. For stubborn stains, a paste of baking soda and water, applied gently with a soft cloth is a good trick.

The shower trays in the Terran-N, Pyros and Cratos collections are made from Stonex® and Senceramic® materials, renowned for their unique anti-slip and zero-porosity properties, as well as elegant design potential. These trays are exceptionally durable, resisting wear and tear and abrasion, while remaining in perfect condition over time.
Acrylic-based shower trays offer durability and adaptability, as seen in the Granada or Neo Daiquiri collections, and it is a frequent material for more unique shapes such as curved or angular trays. All of these materials are ideal because they are easy to clean and require minimal maintenance. Here are some important considerations to keep in mind.

The first thing to remember is to rinse the shower after each use to remove any soap residue or limescale. This simple step is a very effective part of daily maintenance. When cleaning a Stonex® or Senceramic® shower tray, choose a non-abrasive cleaner, preferably one specifically designed for stone resin surfaces. As with any shower tray or ceramic-like material, avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive tools that may damage the surface.

If stains do occur, deal with them immediately, treating them with the same urgency as you would with clothing or fabrics. Apply a bleach-based cleaner directly to the affected area and scrub with a textured sponge until the stain disappears. Rinse immediately with warm water and dry with a cotton towel. Never use hot steam on Stonex® surfaces as this can damage the coating. It is also advisable to use a soft cotton towel to dry the shower tray surface, as it this is the most natural and gentle method.
Whatever the material, it's important to prevent the build-up of soap scum, hard water stains, and mould. To reduce these problems, use a squeegee on the shower tray after each use to remove excess water. This will help prevent water stains and reduce the need for frequent cleaning.
In addition to regular cleaning, proper maintenance can extend the life of your shower tray. Regularly inspect the caulking and grouting around the edges of the tray, as these can deteriorate over time and lead to water leaks. Repair any cracks or gaps immediately to prevent water damage to the surrounding walls and floor.
By following these cleaning and maintenance tips, you can keep your shower tray looking its best and ensure a clean and hygienic shower experience for years to come. Remember to always refer to the guidelines for the shower tray you have chosen for your bathroom so that you have specific care instructions based on the material of your shower tray.
